mookaite only comes from australia and it shows up in a wild spectrum of colors: ivory, ochre, maroon, near-black, streaked sunset tones. i paired it with howlite, which is calmer and steady, to anchor the palette. i built this strand scrappy but deliberate, using the last fragments of fine mookaite i had. the colors moved from reds through creams, with earthy streaks running between. this was a grief build for me — i made it after a major personal loss, working bead by bead because that’s all i could do. it’s a one-off that carries weight beyond its materials. materials/specs:  mookaite jasper (multi-color) · howlite · ~50″ continuous strand · one-of-a-kind from limited stash  

hot and clear, peak summer heat — the kind of gnarly weather where you’re basically a vampire, only working at night or with all the curtains drawn. deadass the hottest it gets 🐰 i feel crappy but i just want to make some stuff. my hands are freakin raw from stringing beads and sorting stones. phyl thumps every time i drill; maybe she hates the sound or maybe it’s just her way of saying “stfuuuuuu.” i always stop and say “good night phyllis” even if it’s 3 pm. (bunny bedtime is 4pm.) candy elle called twice today. once just to ask to text himari’s phone so they could find it. she could have just done it herself tho 🤣 people at work were oohing over my creativity, they seem to think this bitch is “so artsy” but i’m mostly sitting here trying to get through the fuckin day. i mean, yes people do talk to me about being creative, and yes i love to make things… i guess they think it’s my whole personality but i don’t know.
