The Golden Apple – Autumnal Calm in a Chaotic World
Making jewelry is my therapy. the process of creating something beautiful centers me whether im sick or well, happy or sad. It’s a mental exercise too. There’s patience required, like waiting for a text back; and precision, like applying lipstick in a moving car. The practice seshes are oddly therapeutic. The qualities serve me well when dealing with health conditions that make me feel like a hot melty garbage fire on the reg.
This hand-blown glass apple necklace, for instance, is designed to give a calm vibe. The lampwork golden apple dangles from a delicate strand of amber and green glass seed beads. Twas so much fun to make! The process itself is meditative; a shift in focus from the badness of bod and/or mind to the tangible creation in my hands. It’s dank as hell. I'm gonna open my Etsy shop soon and stunt all my creations.
In creativity, we find not just coping but thriving. And that's quite all right with me. ๐
